The LCBA has some fabulous opportunities in the next few weeks — we’re calling it a Schmoozapalooza! — for you to meet with members of Iowa’s upper courts.
Next MONDAY, February 21, Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Wiggins will be the LCBA’s guest at a private get-together for our members at the Dublin City Pub, 415 1st St SE, Cedar Rapids. Justice Wiggins will be available from 4:30-6 pm. Come on over after work for some appetizers and drinks, courtesy of the LCBA, and meet Justice Wiggins. He is ready for any Q&A, or even just some basic meet and greet.
Following the Dublin City Pub LCBA get-together, Justice Wiggins will be speaking at a public forum, “A Conversation with the Court”, at Kirkwood Community College starting at 7 p.m. Students and the public are invited to the Hotel at Kirkwood Center to learn about the role and function of the Supreme Court and the recently completed merit selection process. Justice Wiggins will take questions from the audience. See announcement here.
Then, on MONDAY, March 7, the LCBA and the Johnson County Bar Association, in conjunction with the University of Iowa Law School, are hosting a reception for all nine Iowa Court of Appeals Judges, who are holding oral arguments at the University of Iowa Law School March 8-9. The reception will be late afternoon Monday from 4:30-7 pm at the Old Capitol in Iowa City. The reception is open to all LCBA and JCBA members, as well as their spouses or other adult guests. Complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Here is a link to the scheduled oral arguments if you’d like to attend any of those as well: http://www.iowacourtsonline.org/Court_of_Appeals/Oral_Argument_Schedule/
