Linn County Courthouse to be Housed at Kirkwood’s Continuing Education Center

The following is from The Gazette:

Chief Judge David Remley said 3,600 square feet at Kirkwood Community College’s Continuing Education Center will serve at the Linn County Courthouse for the foreseeable future until the flooded courthouse is ready for use again.“It’s a nice building. We’re going to do the best we can with what we get,” said Remley, who was at the Kirkwood building Sunday morning with county officials looking it over.

He said some judges are apt to be at the Kirkwood facility, in the 7700 block of Kirkwood Boulevard NW, as soon as Monday.

Whether jury trials will be held at the facility will be determined later, he added.

He directed people to the Linn County government Web site for court details.

Beginning Monday, Remley said the Linn County Clerk of Court’s office will be located in the Jones County Courthouse. Anyone who needs to file Linn County court documents should do it there, he said.

Remley said district judges would be in place on Monday in Benton and Iowa counties.
