Next bar meeting Thurs., Oct. 15 at CR Art Museum

The Linn County Bar Association meeting will be held Thursday, October 15, 2009, from 12 – 1 p.m. at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, located on Third Avenue SE across from Greene Square Park.  The meeting room is located on the third floor. Parking is available behind the building on the Second Avenue side.

The speakers will be members of the Iowa State Bar Association’s Task Force for the Enhanced Delivery of Legal Services Throughout Iowa.  The Task Force has been charged with examining more effective methods for the delivery of court services to the residents of Iowa.  It was formed to enable the ISBA membership to have a positive impact on changes, which may need to take place as a result of the judicial budget crisis.   As part of this effort, the Task Force will be providing information and inviting dialogue and feedback on the potential reforms at the meeting.

The task force has issued an interim report of potential reforms for discussion based on the results of the survey in August and the results of meetings held by the five committees assigned to study different areas of the judicial process. You can download the report at: http://www.iowabar.org/TaskForce.nsf/0/59ea1f89bb4b65228625763c0065b549/$FILE/Task%20Force%20for%20the%20Enhanced%20Delivery%20Interim%20Report.pdf
