The Dean Mason Ladd American Inn of Court will start its 2013-14 season with a cocktail hour starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Elmcrest Country Club, 1 Zach Johnson Dr NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, followed at 6 p.m. by a CLE program (“What Every Litigator Needs to Know About Wills and Probateâ€), then a dinner at 7 p.m. Please join the Inn as our guests for this event.
The goals of the Inn are, among others: to establish a society of judges, lawyers, legal educators, law students and others, to promote excellence in legal advocacy; to foster a greater appreciation for the adversary system of dispute resolution, with an emphasis on ethics, civility, professionalism and legal skills; and to provide significant education experiences that will enhance the abilities of lawyers as counselors and advocates and of judges as adjudicators and judicial administrators.
Inn members include both State and Federal judges, law professors, in-house counsel, partners and associates from area law firms of all sizes, including solo practitioners, from all facets of practice – both civil and criminal. The Inn meets at various locations throughout the Corridor, 8 times September through May, typically in the evening of the 2nd Thursday of each month, starting at 5 p.m. for a reception, a CLE at 6, followed by dinner. The Inn provides a great way to informally network with all types of attorneys while earning CLE. Annual dues are $240 for associates (1-5 years of experience) and $340 for masters (11-20 years of experience) (there is also an emeritus status for judges and senior attorneys).
If you have questions, please contact the Honorable David Baker (Baker.firstname.lastname@example.org) or Tim Hill (email@example.com). If you wish to join, please submit your contact information to the Inn‘s Administrator, Carol Mann (firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to seeing you at the Inn.
