The Linn County Bar Association‘s 6th Annual Last Chance Seminar will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015, from 4-6 p.m. at Dublin City Pub, 415 1st Street SE, in Cedar Rapids. This CLE will net LCBA members 2 state CLE hours, consisting of 2 hours of ETHICS credit.
From 4 – 5 p.m.: Scammer Claus is Coming to Town: Lawyer and ethics/risk management columnist Karen Erger (Vice President and Director of Practice Risk Management with Lockton Companies) will present some (literally) incredible email and Internet scams that have taken in unsuspecting lawyers – and that may be coming soon to a computer near you. She will review some practical steps you can take to protect yourself and your law firm from these fraudulent schemes and to comply with your ethical obligations to your clients.
From 5 – 6 p.m.: David Roth, the Grinch who stole Christmas: Greg Lederer (Lederer Weston Craig, PLC), who represents Gallagher, Langlas & Gallagher PLC, will report on the status of the Roth/GLG matter, discuss its impact on your practice, and offer some lessons on how to protect yourself and/or your law firm.
Light appetizers will be served, and a cash bar will be available.
All dues-paid LCBA members may attend this 2 hour CLE free of charge. Non-members may attend for a fee of $20 and may pay at the door. (If you would like to confirm that you are current with your dues, please contact Leigh Van Dee at email@example.com.)
