EDMS Enhancement! Docket Numbers Assigned to State Court Filings

Effective April 30, 2023, the Iowa Judicial Branch's EDMS system is assigning a docket sequence number to each docket event within a case. The sequence number is assigned when the docket event "writes to the docket", not when the docket event is filed. Admitted exhibits will have both a docket sequence number and an exhibit number. This docket sequence enhancement went into effect in Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine and Scott counties on April 20, 2023. On April 30, 2023, the enhancement took effect state-wide.
