Have you been a lawyer for fewer than 10 years or are new(ish) to the Sixth Judicial District legal community (Linn, Johnson, Benton, Jones, Iowa and Tama counties)?
If yes, get those business cards out and be prepared to swap and get mentored! Registrations are now being taken for the Sixth Judicial District’s first Speed Mentoring shindig to be held WEDNESDAY, March 27 from 4:30-6p in Cedar Rapids. The organizers have a stellar panel of mentors ready to impart wisdom and experience to mentee attendees! Each Lawry's lawyer (get it? seasoned lawyer!) will be paired with a mentee attendee for a 5-7 minute session to meet each other and then discuss a topic from our moderator. Then the mentee attendee moves on to a new Lawry's lawyer for the next session and so on. This event is not meant to create a long-term mentoring commitment, but rather provide the seeds for connections and education and to also have fun!
TThe Lawry's lawyer line-up (say that 3x fast!) includes many Sixth Judicial District rock stars including Court of Appeals Judge Mary Chicchelly, ISBA President-Elect Melvin Shaw, U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Jackson Jr., Sixth Judicial District Judge Kevin McKeever, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Thad Collins, Kids First founder Jenny Schulz, ISBA Board of Governors Sixth Judicial District delegate Chad Brakhahn, Cedar Rapids family law attorneys Rich Mitvalsky and Caitlin Slessor, Linn County Advocate Senior Staff Attorney Jeremy Elges, nonprofit guru Gordon Fischer, Iowa City Assistant City Attorney Liz Craig, Cedar Rapids trial lawyers Matthew Nagle, Cori Butkowski, Darin Luneckas, Jordan Esbrook, and many more spicy seasoned mentors!
Organizers will also provide food and drink. You won't want to miss this!
REGISTRATIONS ARE LIMITED to the first 26 registrants. Invites to this event were sent to Sixth Judicial District YLD members last week, so get your spot now! Contact shinz@pbalawfirm.com to request a reservation link if you did not receive one.
